The Solution: Reduce downtime risk and reap efficiency benefits in one Program

Trust MET Labs’ Data Center Certification Program to save you time and money by providing independent verification of the equipment you buy, to keep your data center running with high uptime and low energy consumption. The Program has 3 components: Product Safety, Reliability & Energy Efficiency.

Product Safety

Reduce the threat of accidents, damage and lawsuits from unsafe equipment.  Unsafe equipment places the data center operator in legal jeopardy.

MET has unparalleled experience in Product Safety Testing and Certification. MET was the U.S.’s first NRTL, and is trusted by major manufacturers including Dell, Ciena & Cisco Systems.

MET is OSHA approved to test and certify data center equipment to UL 60950-1 for the U.S. marketplace, and is approved by the Standards Council of Canada for standard CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1.

Reliability: Electromagnetic Compatibility & Environmental Simulation

Reduce the threat of data center downtime caused by fire, lighting strike, power fault or earthquake.  This suite of testing is a minimal effort that can save you from debilitating service interruptions.

To evaluate data center reliability, MET uses GR-3160-CORE, Generic Requirements for Telecommunications Data Center Equipment and Spaces. Key tests include:

  • Temperature and Humidity
  • Fire Resistance
  • Earthquake and Office Vibration Resistance
  • Acoustic Noise
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
  • Electrical Fast Transient (EFT)
  • Electromagnetic Emissions and Immunity including FCC Part 15
  • Lightning
  • EMP Testing

MET is a pioneer in NEBS Testing and Certification. Telecommunications NEBS requirements are some of the most comprehensive and difficult equipment evaluation criteria, and MET is expert in them.

Energy Efficiency

Reduce energy costs 10-15% with energy efficient equipment.  This simple mandate can save you millions of dollars every year.

MET has Superior Energy Efficiency Testing and Certification experience. MET was in the first group of labs designated by EPA as both a recognized Laboratory and a Certification Body (CB) for the ENERGY STAR® Third-Party Certification Program.

MET is one of only labs recognized by EPA to test and certify data center storage equipment to Version 1.0 of the ENERGY STAR Data Center Storage Specification.

MET has all these capabilities – no subcontracting – under one roof on both coasts.
