West Coast Labs begin 2nd Shift Telecom Testing
MET began operating a second shift in the Telecom Laboratory in Union City, California this month. The addition of the second shift is a result of a high demand for telecommunications testing. MET’s extensive expertise in Telecom and Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) testing rivals those of any other testing laboratory.

MET's staff of expert engineers is prepared for a wide range of testing needs, as well as design consultation, application preparation and agency liaison. In addition, MET’s staff can provide compliance reviews throughout the project and can recommend cost effective modifications that will not adversely affect the performance of the project. The four in-house laboratories in Union City; EMC, Environmental Simulation, Telecom and Safety, offer flexible scheduling and complete testing to all NEBS requirements, including the latest Verizon Technology Equipment Energy Efficiency Rating (TEEER) testing.

MET can test telecom devices to US, Canadian and international standards and is A2LA accredited and a FCC designated Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB), fully authorized to test and certify to FCC Part 68. MET is also fully recognized by the American Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA). MET Certifies Televisions to Energy Star Requirements
Energy Star Logo Ask Us ABout It MET is currently testing televisions by industry leading manufacturers to Energy Star requirements. Televisions that meet the Energy Star requirements are 30% more energy efficient than conventional models. If all televisions sold in the United States met the new Energy Star requirements, the savings in energy costs would grow to be about $1 billion annually and greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by the equivalent of about 1 million cars.

In addition to televisions, all consumer products that MET is currently approved by OSHA to test and certify, can now be tested to Energy Star specifications. The Energy Star mark will help to promote a product in this age of increasing energy efficiency product purchasing.  Energy Star is a joint program between the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy. Using Energy Star products helped consumers save $16 billion dollars on their utility bills in 2007.  To learn more about MET’s product safety testing, please visit www.metlabs.com/pages/safety.html.
