MET Labs 50th Holiday

2009 marked a significant landmark for MET. We celebrated our 50th year anniversary. Fifty years of making a never ending commitment to constant improvement so as to meet the complex compliance demands placed on electrical products in the global marketplace.

  • MET signed an MOU with KTL, Korea Testing Lab
  • MET was assessed and authorized to perform tests on behalf of COSMOS Corp. for the Japanese PSE mark
  • MET recently partner with NSF International, National Sanitation Foundation, assuming their NRTL role (more details in upcoming newsletters)

    • Modifications within our EMC lab to achieve free space conditions required to meet the new radiated emissions testing (above 1GHz) of EN55022:2006+A1:2207 (Information Technology Equipment - Radio Disturbance Characteristics - Limits and Methods of Measurement)
    • Acquisition of a 30,000 watt 3-phase programmable power supply to meet MIL-STD 704 (A-F Revision), RTCA D-16 (A-F Revision, Airbus 0100.1.8 D/E and IEC 61000
    • Expanded lab capabilities in Santa Clara for complete GR1089 NEBS testing including Section 10
    • Addition of a Dust Blowing Chamber specifically designed to meet the new requirements of MIL-STD 810G

          Whether it's the products tested or the testing programs MET develops, MET strives to be in touch with the certification and testing needs of the future. A few examples of projects that reflect this include:

      This year we tested the Tesla Roadster, in accordance with the European Automotive Directive, including Radiated Emissions and Immunity testing, and for SAE J551-5: Performance Methods of Measurement of Magnetic and
        Tesla Electric Car tested by MET
          Electric Field Strength from Electric Vehicles. We are proud to have tested the Tesla. It is a unique, completely electric sports car for the eco-conscious consumer.           We increased testing and product safety certification of power inverters used in new solar or wind powered energy sources.
         
         
          Our meter certification program, introduced by MET in 2008, is receiving increased interest from the industry. Manufacturers, utilities and public service commissions are all looking into this program. This program deals directly with the emergence of the smart grid technologies and the rise of new methods of metering. This program was created to ensure the accuracy, reliability and safety of electricity meters in homes and businesses throughout the United States and Canada.
