MET Laboratories Presents First ARTCs in Hong Kong EPCglobal event.
Pictured above: Ted Osinski, MET Laboratories, and Chris Adcock, President, CEO, EPCglobal Inc. present Certificates of ARTC Accreditation to representatives of Industrial
Technology Research, GS1 China, and Telecommunication Metrology Center of MII. |
MET Laboratories formally presented the first Approved RFID Test Centers (ARTC) at the October 9th, 2007 EPCglobal Joint Action Group Meeting in Hong Kong. These first accredited regional test centers are accredited to conduct EPCglobal hardware conformance and interoperability certification testing on RFID devices.
-Article Numbering Center of China (ANCC), GS1 China, located in Beijing, P.R. China
-Telecommunication Metrology Center of MII, located in Beijing, P.R. China
-Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) located in Chutung, Taiwan, ROC
The ARTC program, managed by MET Laboratories, accredits test centers. An ARTC can perform Gen2 UHF conformance and interoperability testing. In the future, some ARTCs will be able to perform similar tests on High Frequency (HF) devices for RFID devices.
This is a great opportunity for hardware vendors, located in Asia or Europe to gain EPCglobal hardware certification by using accredited test centers located in their geographical area.

Innovative seasonal products tested by MET Labs Product Safety Lab
Two consumer products currently with MET for product safety clearly illustrate the range of MET's capability and expertise in safety compliance.
The seal, "PARO", manufactured by Microjenics of Japan, was submitted to MET via COSMOS Japan, a partner lab. This toy has both touch and motion sensors, seeming almost life-like in its moving and sound responses to petting and close-by hand movement.
The Christmas Tree Safety System from Lifekeeper Corp. provides a Heat Sensor within an Angel that can be used as a tree ornament, and will signal a audible AC Alarm in the event of high heat. A flashing LED in the angels wings indicates low water levels have been detected. |

MET expands NEBS testing relationship with Huawei China
MET Labs and Huawei have a long history. MET has evaluated many Huawei products for North American product safety certification, and assisted Huawei's internal test lab in setting up new testing procedures. Recently, MET audited and evaluated Huawei's NEBS test process to the latest versions of GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE. This allows certain tests to be performed by Huawei, with results submitted to MET for review, speeding up a process potentially slowed by being a half a world apart.
